Worn in Silence
Worn in Silence is a visceral meditation on fragility, grief, and the quiet strength that endures beneath the surface. Through haunting, sculptural forms rendered in cracked textures and veiled drapery, this series gives form to emotional weight that words cannot reach. The faceless, ghostlike figures appear weathered—eroded by time, trauma, and memory—yet they stand with an unspoken resilience, cloaked not only in fabric but in the strength of survival.
The palette—anchored in worn turquoise, ochre, ivory, and deep crimson—echoes ancient frescoes or the surface of forgotten statues, evoking both sacredness and decay. Texture plays a central role: peeling surfaces, fractures, and painterly erosion become metaphors for memory, vulnerability, and the emotional layering of the self. These figures do not hide from suffering; rather, they embody it fully, tenderly, and without spectacle.
There is a profound stillness in each piece—a sense that the figures are paused in the act of holding themselves together. Their eyes, often obscured or closed, suggest inner withdrawal rather than absence. In this silence, a different kind of presence emerges: one that speaks of endurance, dignity, and the long shadow of the unspoken.
These works leave a lasting imprint. They are not merely portraits, but echoes—fragments of the human condition rendered through texture, form, and color. Each piece invites the viewer to come closer, to listen not with the eyes, but with empathy. In their cracked surfaces and veiled expressions lies a truth both personal and universal: that to be worn is not to be broken, and that silence, when held with care, can speak volumes.
