Wrapped in Absence

This body of work moves through the quiet, often invisible terrain of loss shaped by war, displacement, and emotional memory. Each figure emerges through plaster-like surfaces and gauze-like folds, symbolic of both injury and healing. The gauze functions simultaneously as protection and restraint, concealing wounds while also initiating the fragile process of repair. Through these layered surfaces, the work explores the tension between fracture and recovery, vulnerability and endurance.

The figures inhabit spaces suspended between presence and absence, solitude and connection. Their closeness suggests silent rituals of care formed in the aftermath of devastation, moments where tenderness persists despite rupture. Rather than illustrating trauma directly, the work seeks to evoke the emotional atmosphere that remains around it: grief, resilience, memory, and the quiet persistence of human connection.

At its heart, Wrapped in Absence is not solely about pain, but about endurance. It reflects on the human capacity to protect, carry, and heal one another through even the most fragile spaces of existence.
